Caregivers on the Homefront #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that has been built by individuals, families, organizations, businesses and communities in countries around the world. Millions of people have come together to support and champion the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. We have two days for getting deals – Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On #GivingTuesday, we have a day for giving back. Together, people are creating a new ritual for our annual calendar. #GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season. Every act of generosity counts, and each means even more when we give together. #GivingTuesday includes people of all ethnicities, religions and backgrounds. Everyone has something to give.
Caregivers on the Homefront is seeking to fund our Military and Veteran Caregiver Mental Health and Wellness Program. These funds will be used to implement a four-day mental health and wellness restorative weekend. Our restorative weekend will serve all eras of military and veteran caregivers. Caregivers will pay nothing. Our program, which will be held several times throughout the year will give our participants the tools they need to tend to their mind, body, and soul. Through mental health education, mindfulness, yoga, and support we aim to put caregivers on the path to self-healing where they are empowered to take control of the quality of their lives while offering a sense of community with those sharing similar experiences. When a caregiver takes care of themselves first they are then able to be more present and loving to their wounded warrior, children and other family members.
